Tip Toe Though the Tulips with me

I am learning the song “Tip Toe Through The Tulips,” by Tiny Tim on the ukulele! My husband started teaching me the other day. Once that is done Mr. Cheeze can truly announce we are in a Tiny Tim cover band!!! Look out world! The Adventures of Lost and Found Mr. Cheeze

It has been enough time since I lost and found my little dog Mr. Cheeze to tell the story. First off, I sincerely appreciate all the support that was shown throughout the nightmare of losing him. There were uncountable sweet messages, calls, text and around 700 shares of his lost dog post. I was overwhelmed and touched by the level of support. I want to thank everyone for the support. I also want to thank is former foster mom Johna Harris, Jeff Dorsey of the Humane Society, WGNO for posting the article on there news site, Angie Zeiderman for posting an article in NOLA Defender,  Pittbulls and Paroles, Allison Abuserman my neighbor and dear friend, Mac Taylor best man, Jane Stubbs one of my best friends, and all my lovely Friends and Family that posted, passed out flyers, worked to find and helped spread the word. Last but not least I would like to thank the group of traveling kids with hearts of gold that helped find my dog. Later I found out it was the 4th dog they rescued that week. It warms my heart and restores faith in humanity.

The Story: It was March 12th at 6ish pm, a day before my birthday. My husband, Ratty was going to take Mr. Cheeze out to take a ride to the store. Because it was a quick ride there and back with no stops he did not have his collar on at this point. When Ratty let him out to the car Mr. Cheeze ran to the side yard to pee, Ratty say this and went to throw something away and came back and Cheeze has vanished. It is not like Mr. Cheeze to take off so it is a theory that he may have been taken. Our good friend Mac came over as soon as we called to aid in the search. No one around us had seen him and we had search most any place he would be. Mac went home to make flyers.

Allison our dear neighbor got on the search team and helped me hand out and put up flyers in the rain. I was a stress bomb so she helped me immensely to stay focused. The next day Al and my buddy Jane showed up with a buttload of flyers. (I know Allison made like 750 flyers not counting the hand bills). We were telling everybody if they see the dog to take him to the St. Roch Tavern, so we went there 1st to check in and check how the flyers had held up in the rain. I saw a group of traveling kids walking past and jumped out to hand them hand bills. One of the guys says” my friend has your dog!” Showed another friend the flyer and says “yes thats the dog he rescued!! Your going to get your dog back today!”  I was so overjoyed I almost forgot to ask him where his friend was. He directed me to where everyone was hanging out.

I found the guy that once had my dog. He told me he saw Mr. Cheeze tied to a post with a shoestring so he untied him and took him with him. He confessed he had too many dogs to keep him so he gave Mr. Cheeze to his friends to take care of. We looked for his friends where they were last in a few places. Everywhere we went they had just left. He remembered that they were going to go to Pittbulls and Paroles for some dog food. So we all hopped in Allison’s car and headed over there. They had just left. I have a friend that works there named Woo, he got me some water and gave me his seat as I explained the situation. As I did this the sweet travel kid flyered the long line of tourist waiting to get in and tour the reality show facilities. Al told me to wait there in case they come back and both her and the kid left to see if they could catch up with them. Minutes later they came back honking the horn with Mr. Cheeze is the passenger seat. The whole line of tourist started clapping and cheering as I scooped up my dog. It was the best birthday gift ever.

New Years Res. Update: Floating in a Sea of Change

Update on New Year Resolutions:

A few days ago I started to clean my house, got tons done (still have tons left) but pretty proud of how much I got done. The upcoming week is gonna be crazy with work and Mardi Gras so I decided to take it easy yesterday. For once it felt guiltless because my week has been a productive one.

I have told myself that it is okay to drink during Mardi Gras, but have stayed on my no drinking kick throughout the season, despite the allowance. I am sure as the day draws near I will be more interested in booze but I am pretty happy with my life without it. I am going to try to abstain till Lundi and Mardi Gras proper. And be done with it on Ash Wednesday of coarse.

There are a few resolutions that got left out from my last entry,
8. Learn Cajun French
9.Learn Slide Guitar
both of these are important but I need to make some more progress on 1-7 before tackling the last two. The Cajun French one I have already started on my own, but for me to truly have success with this one I need my cousins (or anyone) to help me and my Mawmaw to learn skype. My grandma not only speaks Cajun French but use to teach  it. I guess it should read like this: 9. learn skpe and teach Mawmaw to skpe. 10. learn Cajun French.  If any of my cousins are reading this please help us. My cousin Crystal did teach me to skpe once upon a time, but that was a while back and I need a refresh tutorial.
As for the slide guitar, Ratty will be my teacher. I am excited to learn from him. I am not sure about my musical capabilities, but won’t know unless I try.

I am doing excellent with the building of new routines and ideas. Its number 5 of my list, getting all the projects out of my head and into the world. I have a wonderful announcement: The Look What I Can Do VaRIOTy Show has a regular monthly show at the Allways Lounge. The next one is March 5th and will be a birthday show for Dr. Sick and I. I have surprised myself in the progress of costuming new acts and am doing well in training. I have made decisions that have helped me move forward and am feeling optimistic about 2015. I have decided to keep up the updates and also hand write a journal of my progress, this is  to keep things in perspective and stay encouraged. These blogs are part of that as well. I feel I am floating in a sea of change and the possibilities that surround me are a vast and exciting.

p.s. one of the left out resolutions was to pay more attention to my website….TaDA done and done!

A Few of my New Year Resolutions. So far so good

Just a bit into the New Year, here is some of my resolutions and progress so far.

1. Dedicating myself to learning to sew on the sewing machine. I have indeed started on this path. It feels like this one is going to be a new year promise I get to keep. I have sewed a few small pieces with a help of a friend. If I finish my Mardi Gras Costume I can easily see this resolution working out.

2. Reduce or all together quite drinking and a focus on health. I am rocking on the no drinking side of things. Made good choices so far to make things right. Excercising more, but I need more time to really be able to see how well I am doing. Soda and coffee have become new vices.  Have started on a path of healthier living but the switch over to eating better is met with many success and failures. This particular one has alot of layers to it, a lesson in patience comes with it.

3.  Commitment to dance classes, aerial classes and yoga classes. Are all still in the works but seem within my realm of possibilities. Won’t really get that win till Mardi Gras season is over.

4. Spending more time with friends and family. And make sure that people around me know I value them. I am doing well with this one.

5. Getting ideas out of my brain and into the world. I am loving this one!!!! And am enjoying every step of the way.

6. Clean and organize house. Nope, not yet.

7. Reconnect with things I find meaningful. This one is just as much about the journey as  the end result.  So far so good.

Summer Travels

So I am booking a tour for our variety troupe called “Look What I Can DO VaRIOTy Show” in the month of July. I will post the dates and venues in this next two weeks. It is a three week tour and we are mostly focus on Oklahoma and Texas for this run of shows. I hope we get a few venues that I can do aerial, I would love to tour my new routine in new locations. Wish us luck! I promise I will release dates and locations soon.
